Our metal products can be made from pewter, aluminum, copper, brass, iron and a zinc alloy for die casting.

Die Struck
This style is created by stamping (or striking) a piece of metal with a die, thus creating a recessed level and a raised level to the piece. This is an explanation of a simple die struck plate, but we can also multi-stamp your piece to create multiple levels and a more 3-D look. The base metals used are pewter, aluminum, copper, brass, and iron. The recessed areas can be filled with epola or soft enamel coloring and the surface can be finished with an extremely hard, protective epoxy.

Die Cast
This style is created by injecting a mold of your design with molten zinc alloy. This process can create a piece with a scuptured face. The recessed areas can be filled with soft enamel coloring.

Epola
With epola, we stamp a copper base metal with your design. Strips of metal separate blocks of brilliant colored resin. The blocks of color sit at the same level as the metal, which leaves the piece with an extremely smooth surface. It is fired and highly polished. This style is just like cloisonné, but uses a glass-like resin instead of glass.

Soft Enamel
This style is very similar to epola and cloisonné in that strips of metal separate blocks of color; however enamel is used instead of resin. The blocks of color rest below the metal strip surface, which creates a three dimensional look. Part or all of the surface can be covered with color. The base metals used are pewter, aluminum, copper, brass, or iron. The surface of the piece can be finished with an extremely hard, protective epoxy.

Photo Etch
Rather than being stamped, each design is chemically etched into the base metal, then color-filled by hand and baked before being polished. In the final step, a thin coat of clear epoxy is applied to the surface to protect the color and to provide a rich, finished look. Photo etch allows for great detail.

Silk Screening
This style is produced by applying each color to the metal base using a "silk screen" process. A very thin epoxy coat protects the color material from scratching. All metal plating finishes are available.

Offset Printing
This process allows for bleeds and blends of colors. This style is perfect for complex art and photo reproduction. An unlimited amount of colors can be used and all metal plating finishes are available.

Plating Styles/Metal Finishes
Our metal-based products (lapel pins, coins, etc.) can be plated in a variety of metal finishes, including

  • Polished gold, copper, silver, and black metal
  • Matte gold, copper, and silver metal
  • Antiqued gold, copper, and silver metal

All finished can include sandblasting, which especially compliments polished metal pieces. A piece made entirely from polished metal can be difficult to read. However, adding sand blasting to recessed areas creates great contrast between the recessed and raised areas.
